In the Romance

In Chapter 113 of the Romance, Sun Chen, General-in-Chief of Eastern Wu, on hearing that Quan Duan, Tang Zi and others had surrendered to Wei, beheaded every member of their families, and Sun Liang, Lord of Wu, then only sixteen years old, inwardly disapproved of Sun Chen's excessive killing. Sun Liang wrote a secret edict and gave it to Quan Ji, Gentleman of the Yellow Gate and an imperial in-law, to have him guard the city gates together with General Liu Cheng, intending to kill Sun Chen himself; but when Quan Ji's father Quan Shang told his wife of the plan, she, being Sun Chen's sister, secretly sent someone to inform Sun Chen. Romance, Ch. 113 §2 · 5–7

That night Sun Chen called his four brothers, surrounded the palace and killed Quan Shang, Liu Cheng and others, and then summoned the civil and military officials and declared that the sovereign, sunk in wine and women and long ill, was foolish and disordered and must be deposed. When the Master of Writing Huan Yi denounced him loudly and said he would not obey the orders of a traitorous minister, Sun Chen drew his own sword and cut him down, then went inside, denounced Sun Liang as a lawless and benighted ruler, and said that out of regard for the late emperor he would depose him as Prince of Kuaiji. Romance, Ch. 113 §7–10

He then ordered the Gentleman of the Secretariat Li Chong to seize Sun Liang's imperial seal and its cord, and had Deng Cheng take charge of them. Sun Liang left weeping bitterly. Sun Chen sent men to Hulin to welcome Sun Xiu, Prince of Langya, and Sun Xiu, after declining repeatedly, at last accepted the imperial seal, ascended the throne as Son of Heaven and changed the era name to the 1st year of Yong'an. Romance, Ch. 113 §10 · 12–13
