Zhang Shang is a Jin general who appears in Chapter 120 of the Romance. When Du Yu, Grand Commander of Jin, advances on Jiangling, Sun Hao, the Lord of Wu, sends out Wu Yan, Lu Jing and Sun Xin along three routes. When the troops of Zhou Zhi, whom Du Yu had sent across the river beforehand to hide at Bashan, raise fires on the city wall and cut down Sun Xin, Lu Jing, seeing from his boat the fires on the south bank and Du Yu's banner, goes ashore in alarm to save his life, but Zhang Shang gallops up and cuts him down. Romance, Ch. 120 §33 · 38–40

He appears in only one of the Romance's 120 chapters, Chapter 120, and his name is in no chapter title. The Jin general Zhang Shang does not appear in Chen Shou's main text or in Pei Songzhi's notes. The Biography of Lu Xun in Chen Shou's main text records only that on the guihai day of the 2nd month of the 4th year of Tianji (280) Lu Jing too was killed, and does not say who killed him. The Zhang Shang of the same name who appears in Chen Shou's main text is a grandson of Zhang Hong, a minister of Wu who became Palace Attendant and Prefect of the Palace Writers under Sun Hao, was sent to Jian'an to build ships, and was executed there a long time afterward.
