In the Romance

In Chapter 9 of the Romance, as Wang Yun and the others stood at the palace gate holding precious swords, Lü Bu, bearing an imperial edict, stabbed Dong Zhuo to death. Afterwards Dong Zhuo's remnant follower Li Jue conferred with Guo Si, Zhang Ji and Fan Chou and arranged that he himself would hold the mouth of the valley and lure Lü Bu into fighting, Guo Si would strike his rear, and Zhang Ji and Fan Chou would advance by two routes straight on Chang'an. Lü Bu, pinned down for several days and unable to fight though he wished to, returned on receiving word that the capital was in danger, but fared badly in the fighting below the walls. Romance, Ch. 9 §24–25 · 41–45

A few days later, Dong Zhuo's remnant followers Li Meng and Wang Fang acted as accomplices within the city and secretly opened the gates, and the enemy armies poured in by four routes at once. Outside the Qingsuo Gate Lü Bu urged Wang Yun to escape through the pass with him, but Wang Yun refused to the last, and Lü Bu, abandoning his family, went to Yuan Shu with a hundred-odd horsemen. Romance, Ch. 9 §46–47

Li Jue and Guo Si let their troops loose to plunder on a large scale, and the Minister of Ceremonies Chong Fu, the Minister Coachman Lu Kui, the Grand Herald Zhou Huan, the Colonel of the City Gates Cui Lie and the Colonel of the Yue Cavalry Wang Qi all died in the nation's calamity. When the enemy troops surrounded the inner palace, the attendants asked the Son of Heaven to mount the Xuanping Gate and stop the disorder, and Wang Yun leapt down from the tower of the Xuanping Gate and rebuked the two men.
